• It reduces mucus congestion.

• It eliminates pruritus and itching.

• It is very useful for the treatment of bovine emphysema and ketosis.

• Useful in cases of photosensitization.

WARNINGS

• The meat and milk of the treated animals must not be used for human consumption until 48 hours after the last treatment.

• It must not be used in hypersensitive animals with glaucoma, hyperten sion and prostatic hypertrophy

RECOMMENDATIONS

FORMULA

Every 100 ml contains:

Hexamethylenetetramine...............................................................40 g

Hexamethylenamine salicylate...................................................... 10 g

Trimethylxanthine.......................................................................... 1 g

Injection water q.s................................................................... 100 ml

PRESENTATION

50 ml flask.

ADMINISTRATION ROUTE

Intravenous administration.

DOSAGE

Bovines and equines: 20 ml.

Calves and colts: 10 ml.

Ovines, caprines and porcines: 2 to 5 ml.

Canines: 0.5 ml every 10 kg of body weight.

SPECIES

Bovines, equines, ovines, caprines, porcines and canines.

PROPERTIES

• Hexamethylenetetramine (urotropin (ch2)5n4) is an antiseptic of the urinary and biliary tract that dissolves uric acid which and acts against phosphaturia. Its antibacterial activity is based on the release of formaldehyde in a medium acid. It works against several Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria, including Escherichia coli. Due to this characteristic, it may be used together with antibiotics, if therapy so indicates (it must not be administered together with sulfa drugs). Its formula is strengthened with hexamethylenamine salicylate or saliformin.

• Trimethylxanthine (caffeine) is an alkaloid “methylated” xanthine compound which can be found in coffee. It is prescribed to be used as a stimulant of diuresis and a cardiac tonic. It relaxes plain muscles, especially bronchial muscles. It reduces the peripheral vascular resistance and increases the basal metabolic rate.

• In the final phase of its metabolism, trimethylxanthine has 1-methyluric acid and other uric acid derivatives which are mainly eliminated through the kidneys.

• The decongestion of the urinary tract, its cholagogue action (emptying the biliary vesicle and eliminating the bile), are basic properties that help reduce the inflammation of the liver and biliary vesicle (equines, zebras, mules and donkeys do not have a biliary vesicle). The heart is tonified and it maintains more energetic activity.

• Its application in race equines is very common, since it has decongestant effects and moderate diuretic activity. Therefore, it is administered after animals have run or participated in events involving extreme muscular activity. The elimination of the uric acid helps prevent muscle pain (azoturia, myositis, hemoglobinuria or “Monday disease” and post-race muscle pain).

• Its use is suggested in sows when there is “piglet itching,” due to excessive milk consumption. Formaldehyde is eliminated through the milk of the sow, which results in moderate suckling by the piglet.

• ENDOSEPTINE does not contain antibiotics. Therefore, there are no toxic or allergic effects.

• ENDOSEPTINE is used for the treatment of some types of nephritis, infectious hepatitis and diseases that attack the central nervous system, such as encephalitis, encephalomyelitis and borna disease.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Keep in a dry and cool place. Do not expose to light. Keep out of the reach of children.
