PHARMACEUTICAL PROPERTIES
Ivermectin, is an antiparasitic of the avermectin family with great activity both on
internal and external parasites of domestic animals. Ivermectin acts on nematodes and on
arthropods via gamma amino-butyric acid (GABA). She causes her release by
the presynaptic membrane and potentiates its binding to receptors located on the postsynaptic membrane.
At recommended doses, ivermectin is very well tolerated in both adults and young people and
can be used at all stages of gestation.
However, ivermectin is devoid of cestocidal activity. This often requires it to be associated with
anthelmintics having tenicidal activity.
Praziquantel is an anthelmintic from the pyrazino-isoquinolines family that is very active on tapeworms. His
action is exerted on both adult and immature forms. Pharmacologically, praziquantel
exerts its action in different ways, including the induction of a muscle contraction
paralyzing and destruction of the cestode integument. It is rapidly absorbed by the digestive tract in all
the species. Its metabolism is complete and rapid.
The two products, ivermectin and praziquantel, then present a perfect complementarity of their
spectra of action.
