Al Shaqab Center in the State of Qatar is a distinguished center specialized in purebred Arabian horses and works in accordance with many international controls and standards related to the field of equestrianism, in order to preserve the cultural and heritage of the State of Qatar, of which the purebred Arabian horse is a significant part.
Al Shaqab Horse Center was established by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in 1991 with the aim of preserving the purebred Arabian horse breed. Al Shaqab Center joined Qatar Foundation in 2004 under the leadership of Al Shaqab Chairman Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The Foundation aims to rise to the best levels in the field of purebred Arabian horse production and choose the best to participate in international competitions, in addition to providing educational opportunities to learn three of the most important equestrian arts, which are show jumping, dressage and the integrated track. This is done through a framework characterized by seriousness and commitment to develop the equestrian system and create a generation capable of keeping pace with the requirements of modern development in horse-riding sports, which the Qatari state pays great attention to.
Al Shaqab Center has bred many Arabian horses that won many international competitions, awards and titles, and one of their greatest achievements was being crowned 7 times with the title (World Champion) in the World Championship for the beauty of purebred Arabian horses that was held in Paris at Salon du Shoval for horses, namely “Ghazal Al Shaqab, Marwan Al Shaqab, Adeed Al Shaqab, Kahil Al Shaqab, Hariri Al Shaqab, Fadi Al Shaqab, and Wadih Al Shaqab.”
The production program in Al Shaqab is divided into three categories: The international Arabian horse category, which includes all Arab breeds, the Egyptian Arabian horse category recognized by the "Pyramid Society", and the traditional Qatari breed category. The program depends on the seven horses previously mentioned, of which Ghazal Al Shaqab and his son Marwan Al Shaqab head the Arab International Division, while the late champion Al Adeed Al Shaqab was considered the best purebred Egyptian horse in the world. Al Shaqab Center provides luxurious air-conditioned stables for horses to enjoy daily grooming sessions, massage sessions, and individually tailored fitness programs.
Undoubtedly, the "Gazal Al Shaqab and its descendants, especially "Marwan Al Shaqab", made the name Al Shaqab associated with the production and breeding of excellent Arabian horse which helped it to gain great international standing, which prompted a large number of farms and stalls around the world to use the Al Shaqab horse, which has become a distinctive sign of the beauty of Arabian horses on the global level, to improve their breeds.
