Meet Marwan Al Shaqab: The World’s Most Famous Arabian Stallion

The crown jewel of Qatar’s royal stables, Marwan Al Shaqab, owned by the Qatari royal family, has rock star status in the Middle East.. Marwan was born in Al Shaqab foundation, which is an equestrian center of Qatar Foundation (QF), in the Al Shaqab district in the State of Qatar, where Arabian horses are bred and trained. Created in 1992 by the Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Al Shaqab joined QF in 2004. Al Shaqab is now the leading resource center for equine education in the country and features Arab horse breeding.

His Legacy:

Marwan Al Shaqab is the son of Stallion Gazal Al Shaqab. He was foaled in Doha / Qatar on 12 February 2000 and was shown as a yearling in 2001. He was leased to Ses Planes farm’s Spanish breeder Marieta Salas. The two-year-old stallion was bred to 10 mares at Ses Planes during the spring of 2002 and sired nine foals born in 2003. He was shown at both the Nations Cup, the European Championship as well as the World Championship in May 2002.

Marwan Al Shaqab has been a jewel in Al Shaqab's crown since his first Doha show when he captured the arena with his apparent confidence and earned his first victory. Marwan's sons and daughters have already established him as his generation's most influential stallion.
